A traditional and rustic dish, perfect for enjoying a mix of potatoes and cheese in a simple but flavorful way! 😋
Ingredients:
- - Potatoes: 500 g
- - Montasio cheese: 250 g
- - Onion: 1/2
- - Sale: q.b.
- - Black pepper: to taste
- - Extra virgin olive oil: to taste
Procedure:
- 1. Preparation of onions:
- - Finely chop the onion and fry it in a pan with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. If you don't like onion, you can omit it.
- 2. Preparation of potatoes:
- - While the onion is frying, peel the potatoes and grate them coarsely.
- - Cut the Montasio cheese into small cubes.
- 3. Cooking potatoes:
- - When the onion is stewed and golden, add the grated potatoes to the pan, add a pinch of salt and black pepper.
- - Let it cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 4. Addition of Montasio:
- - When the potatoes are almost cooked, add the Montasio cheese and mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- 5. Crust formation:
- - Flatten the mixture with a spoon and let it cook until a golden crust forms on the bottom and the frico begins to detach from the pan.
- - Use a plate to turn the frico and cook the other side until a crust forms on the other side too.
- 6. Serve:
- - Your Friulian frico is ready to be served, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside!
Conservation:
- - You can store the frico in the refrigerator for 2-3 days, in an airtight container.
